Quality Award
The Scottish Mentoring Network Quality Award is the only award specifically for mentoring services in the UK. The award aims to independently assess mentoring practice and certify that programmes are operating in a safe and effective manner.
Scottish Mentoring Network has its own Quality Standard, along with a corresponding Good Practice Guide. Currently 25% of our members have the Quality Award.
The Quality Award process is supported by our good practice guide that provide details of the elements required to achieve the standard. Applying for a quality standard accreditation demonstrates the commitment to delivering a service which focuses on the expectations and requirements of its stakeholders. Achieving the Quality Award shows that a service is applying good practice to all aspects of its work.
Benefits of undertaking the Quality Award
- Recognition for current good practice.
- An independent “health check” of current practice resulting in a development plan for the programme.
- Formal certification resulting in increased credibility for the programme with stakeholders and funding bodies.
- Increased confidence in the programme from referrers, potential mentors and mentees.
- On completion of the award the service gets an official certificate and access to our quality award logo that can be used on the services correspondence to say they have the award.
- A place on our mentoring map to show that you have our Quality Award.
Eligibility
- You must be a member of Scottish Mentoring network in order to apply for the Quality Award. How to become a member
- In order to achieve all the Quality practice indicators your service must have completed a complete cycle of mentoring. This means your service will have completed a full service of volunteer recruitment, training and completion of mentor and mentee matching including ending the matches etc.
